Back at Ain’t Nothing But

I’ve been avoiding London gigs but have been tempted back to the famous Ain’t Nothing But Blues Bar in Soho to play the 6.30 session this coming Tuesday, May 3. It must be my first time there for two years or more.

Leigh blues twice a month

My sessions in the licensed cafe at Leigh Community Centre are now twice a month, on the first and third Wednesday. Special guest each session, 7.30pm start, £5 on the door.

Instrumentalist of the year

I’m delighted to have been named “instrumentalist of the year” in the GSMC Music Awards, announced on Jan 21 2022. Thanks to everyone who voted for me.

No 2 in playlist chart

Sweet Soul Slide was No 2 in the blues show playlist chart for October 2021, compiled by the Independent Blues Broadcasters Association. I’m grateful to all the blues show presenters who have been playing tracks.

Great night at Lorna & Lottie’s

What a great turnout for the November blues night at Lorna & Lottie’s cafe/bar at Leigh Community Centre. Guitarist and singer Connor Selby, showed why he is one of the most talked-about acts on the UK blues scene. And Tim Huskisson was great on piano, as ever.

Pick of the month

My Sweet Soul Slide CD has been selected as one of three picks of the month for October 2021 by the Independent Blues Broadcasters’ Association.

I find that a bit crazy as the other two albums are mighty productions by Joanne Shaw Taylor (featuring Joe Bonamassa and other blues luminaries) and the Altered Five Blues Band (No 3 on the Billboard blues chart in the US). My CD is just me playing guitar and singing some classic old soul songs.

I’m delighted to be in such esteemed company and really grateful to the UK blues presenters who support my work.

IBBA Presenter’s Album Picks of the Month October ’21:

Altered Five Blues Band – Holler If You Hear Me;

Joanne Shaw Taylor – The Blues Album;

Martin McNeill – Sweet Soul Slide
